Matriarch Hill Safari

Discover wildlife, culture and fun with a locally-owned company that takes cues from the oldest and wisest female in Tanzania—the matriarch elephant—to care for the future. Matriarch Hill Safari not only offers top-notch adventures, but works to preserve the wildness of Africa and empower the women who protect and serve this magical place.

Join us to discover Tanzania’s wildlife and culture. Experience the breathtaking beauty of the country. Meet local women and make a difference in their lives through Give a Heart to Africa. And build friendship, camaraderie and confidence with some of the first women guides in Africa.

Tanzania’s natural beauty and sheer density of plant and wildlife species make it a top destination for ecotourists. Almost a third of the country is protected, providing habitat for scores of species across 16 National Parks. A fifth of Africa’s large mammals can be found within its borders, including lions, hippos, elephants, zebra, and wildebeest, whose mass migration through the Serengeti is a major draw for safaris.

Matriarch Hill Safari is happy to announce we have joined forces with Ang'ata Camps to showcase Tanzania's prestigious wild and help support the women of this incredible industry!  The Ang'ata camps are mobile camps situated in Tanzania's most beautiful National Parks & Conservation areas. These camps are designed to offer the highest quality accommodation one would expect from a tented lodge. Game Packages and Photographic Safaris with our fleet of 4x4 Custom Safari trucks, will make our guests discover the many cultures and the diverse environments of Tanzania, making the Big Five almost impossible to miss.

At Matriarch Hill Safari, we’ve set out to fully employ our safari with women. With a percentage of our income going to East African women’s rights, including those that support the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation, we promise to educate and help all fractions of women’s lives. Matriarch Hill Safari will also be a interlink, selling hand-made products crafted by Tanzanian women in the surrounding areas, giving them a higher sense of self and dignity.
